Macadamia oil's fatty acid profile closely resembles the oils naturally produced by our scalp, making it one of the best natural hair treatments available.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons macadamia oil (cold-pressed)
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 1 egg yolk (for protein)
- 5 drops lavender essential oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Method
- Mix: Gently warm the macadamia oil (not hot). Whisk in the honey, egg yolk, and essential oil until smooth.
- Apply: Section dry hair and apply the mask from roots to tips, focusing on the ends where damage is worst. Massage gently into the scalp.
- Wrap: Cover hair with a shower cap or cling film. Wrap a warm towel over the top to help the oils penetrate.
- Wait: Leave on for 30–60 minutes. For an intensive treatment, leave on for 2 hours or overnight.
- Rinse: Wash out with a gentle shampoo. You may need to shampoo twice. Finish with a rinse of cool water with apple cider vinegar for extra shine.
How Often
Use once a week for damaged hair, or once a fortnight for maintenance. You should notice softer, shinier hair after the very first treatment.
