As we age, our skin produces less palmitoleic acid, a key component of the skin's natural oils. Macadamia oil is one of the richest botanical sources of this fatty acid, making it ideal for mature skin care.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons macadamia oil
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- 1 tablespoon beeswax pellets
- 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
- 1 tablespoon rosehip oil
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 5 drops frankincense essential oil
- 3 drops rose geranium essential oil
Method
- Melt: In a double boiler, gently melt the beeswax, shea butter, and macadamia oil together. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
- Cool slightly: Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add aloe: Once lukewarm, slowly whisk in the aloe vera gel using a mini electric whisk or immersion blender. This creates the cream emulsion.
- Enrich: Add the rosehip oil, vitamin E, and essential oils. Whisk again until smooth and creamy.
- Jar: Transfer to a clean, sterilised glass jar with a lid.
- Store: Keep in a cool, dark place. Use within 8 weeks (no synthetic preservatives).
To Use
Apply a small amount to clean skin each evening. The cream is rich, so a little goes a long way. Gently press into the face and neck with upward motions. The macadamia oil will work overnight to replenish the skin's lipid barrier while you sleep.
Why It Works
Macadamia oil's palmitoleic acid replenishes what ageing skin loses naturally. Combined with rosehip oil's retinol content and frankincense's cell-regenerating properties, this cream supports skin renewal throughout the night.
